The University of Florence, the Alma Mater Studiorum | University of Bologna, University of Verona, IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca and The Ruskin - Library, Museum and Research Center, University of Lancaster, on the occasion of the two hundred years since the birth of John Ruskin (London, February 8, 1819 -Brantwood, 20 January 1900), one of the most representative intellectuals of 19th century British society, organizes a series of celebratory events.
On the occasion of the two hundredth anniversary from birth, it is considered appropriate to propose new readings and considerations on the relationship between John Ruskin and Italy, organizing some initiatives aimed at encouraging debate and discussion on the numerous aspects of his work.
Two invited conferences in Lucca (28 November) and Verona (30 November) will be joined by a day of study in Florence (29 November) with selected interventions via call for papers. The study days are accompanied by a call for sketchbooks (deadline 30 September) dedicated to the representation of Ruskinian places and entrusted to the different means of expression, as well as two Summer Schools.
