The first “pilot” edition of the conference Storie di scienza sponsored by the network will be held online on 15-16 October 2021. Scholars from Aalto University, Chalmers University of Technology, Kulturlandskapet, National Technical University and Tampere University have proudly joined forces in organizing a session on compensation in architecture and archaelolgy at 27th Annual meeting of EAA within the global objective “Widening Horizons”. This session is focusing on compensation as a concept, method, and professional practice in the conservation and development of cultural environments. Compensation represents a significant challenge reflected in a myriad of environmental laws and in local policies.

Between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the Italian political geography was polarized by a number of cities of different sizes and traditions: Rome and Florence, Milan and Naples, Genoa and Venice, Turin and Modena, either ancient republics or new dynastic capitals, satellites of the great European monarchies or small Signorias.
The program offers a broad reflection on the topic of regeneration of market spaces and production sites by analyzing their history and impact as a cultural heritage, also in terms of sound landscapes.
